Exercise and Fitness Testing         

Pauole Sport partners with Seattle Performance Medicine to offer exercise and fitness testing to all levels of athletes. Seattle Performance Medicine houses an advanced physiology lab which includes two high accuracy stationary gas exchange systems. We use the most accurate equipment and sophisticated interpretive analysis to produce the most useful, reliable and valid results.

Testing is highly valuable for everyone from beginners starting an exercise program to an advanced competitive triathlete or runner.  Our testing identifies strengths and limitations related to an individual’s athletic goals.

Measurements include:

  • VO2max, Heart Rate max, Lactate Threshold, Aerobic Threshold, Maximal Power, VO2max Power, Threshold Power, Caloric expenditure, fat, carbohydrate and protein burning percentages and Resting Metabolic Rate.
  • Heart Rate zones and power zones are also established for each athlete.
  • Each test is conducted and interpreted by an experienced Exercise Physiologist, Kainoa Pauole-Roth, who will review the results and provide in-depth interpretation and training recommendations. Kainoa and Seattle Performance Medicine has conducted over 3500 physiologic tests.

Multi-sport:

$550   Similar to VO2max Single Sport, comprehensive dual sport testing which includes:  Resting metabolic rate, VO2max measurement, exercise metabolic rate, exercise fuel utilization, aerobic threshold (LT), anaerobic threshold (LAT), fractional utilization of VO2max and VO2max power at anaerobic threshold, HRmax, HR recovery, HR zones, power zones, training recommendations. This test is the best option for Triathletes. (4 hours)
Fitness Consultation $125   Help establish training goals, exercise, and sports nutrition guidelines. Ideal for those looking for periodic advice on specific aspects of training: race season planning, taper plan, off-season training, etc. (1 hour)
Strength & Flexibility Assessment $125   Power to weight ratios for major muscle groups, back and shoulder flexibility, strength score and percentiles, recommendations for strength and flexibility training. (1 hour)
Resting Metabolic Rate $150 Measurement of resting metabolism, includes daily metabolic rate, percentage of protein utilization (reflects metabolic state), predicted optimal nutritional intake range. (45 minutes)
Body Composition $150 Body fat and lean muscle mass composition analysis via the Bod Pod. (45 minutes)
